Ghan House, Carlingford
is a unique 18th century Georgian house. Nestling at the foot of Slieve Foy it has breathtaking views of Carlingford Lough and the Mourne mountains.

Just over an hours drive from Dublin and Belfast airports, it is recommended as one of the "Best 100 places to stay in Ireland " every year since 1998 by Irish Times food correspondent John McKenna.

Ghan House is a tree length away from the Medieval Heritage town of Carlingford which was raided by the Vikings in the 8th and 9th centuries and then the Normans in the 12th century.

Relics of this past remain - castles, fortified town houses, Mint, Thosel and Dominican Friary.

Walking the medieval streets you can discover its' atmospheric pubs and other gems such as craft and antique shops.

The inherent natural beauty of the area has been harnessed by the variety of activities available locally. The spectacular walks on Slieve Foy and the shore, golf on the links course at nearby Greenore, sailing and coarse fishing, windsurfing and horse treking are a few of the many that are on offer.

'sent my parents to Ghan House in Carlingford. They LOVED it and found it extremely relaxing, and they came home with loads of lovely foods'

- That's a fairly standard response from people who encounter Paul Carroll's lovely county house and restaurant for the first time. LOVED it. Well yes, and there is lots to love, from careful and creative cooking through to a very relaxed vibe that lets you feel you are both in, and apart from, the lovely village of Carlingford. Hospitable, timeless, easy to love"

'Everything fits here: the food matches the house, the service and
hospitality chime resonantly and Ghan House is a destination that is
consummately logical and consummately enjoyable'
