Directions to get to Ghan House, Carlingford


FROM THE SOUTH

1 Head North on the N1 out of Dublin towards BELFAST

2 Go past Dublin Airport (you are approx 53 miles and 55 minutes away now)

3 The new motorway links you directly to DUNDALK and takes just 40 minutes from the airport or the M50/M1 junction.

4 There is a toll over a bridge on this motorway - cars €1.60. They do not take sterling! Dundalk is 16km from Carlingford

5 At the end of the motorway, at JUNCTION 18 on M1 Motorway, take signpost for Carlingford

6 Follow signs to Carlingford - there is just one left turn to do just 2 miles before you get to Carlingford, but it is well signposted.

7 As you enter Carlingford, you will see the town sign 'Carlingford - Medieval Heritage Town'

8 At the 50kph sign, TURN LEFT down a driveway, Ghan House is the large white Georgian House at the end of it.

FROM THE NORTH

1) Head south out of Belfast on the M1 towards DUBLIN Once on the motorway you are 1hr away.

2) After about 10 miles, take the junction 7, left signposted to NEWRY on the A1

3) Head towards Newry, follow signs for the THE QUAYS ~ a new shopping centre with a multiplex cinema, and Sainsburys.

4) Turn left at the traffic lights taking you along the side of canal, canal is on your left, shopping centre is on your right and mountain straight ahead (where Carlingford is). You are now 12 minutes away.

5) When you enter Carlingford, keep on the main road, just as you run out of harbour on your left, go on 20 yards/metres, and on your right is a sign 'Ghan House' & a stone entrance - we are the large white Georgian House at the end of it.

FROM THE MIDLANDS

1) Head for signs for Newry or Dundalk, whichever is closer to you.

2) Then follow directions as in 4 or 3 above.

We are equidistant from Belfast & Dublin Airports - approx 1 ¼ hr

Dublin Port (North Dublin) is 1 ½ hr drive, Dun Laoghaire (South Dublin) is 2 hours

Larne Port is 1 ¾ hr and Rosslare is 3 ½ - 4 ½ hrs.

Carlingford has 9 pubs, approx 8 good restaurants, plenty walks, sea and sights all around.

Giant's Causeway (World Heritage Site) 2 ½ drive
