The unique aspect of Ghan House is that you can have exclusive use of the whole house & gardens ~ which means, no other guests apart from your own!
Alternatively, for smaller weddings, you can hold your Civil Ceremony followed by dinner in your very own private dining room.
Most of the weddings we have are between 50 to110 with extra evening guests. However the most our drawing room will hold is 55 guests. If more than this, then we use the ballroom and/or the ground floor dining room.
The easy layout of the house and the fact that you have taken us over for the day actually makes for a more sociable environment rather than just one big function room - I like to think of it more free range than all cooped up in 1 big function room - you can escape the band/DJ and join your own guests in your own bar or relax in front of a log fire in the lounge or chill out in the gardens knowing you'll only bump into your own guests!
Our menus reflect the reputation our restaurant has earned over the years.
Exclusive use means we do not take any lunch on the day of your wedding - you can arrive when you want & have your wedding dinner when you want. The Exclusive Use rate includes the use of the bridal suite. Exclusive use also allows you to bring your own wine and pay a corkage fee.
This means you have the whole house and gardens just to you & your guests.
We have 12 bedrooms, 11 with bath & shower en-suite & a single room with shower room en-suite. Bedroom pictures and prices are viewable here
Ceremonies can be held 7 days a week;
We can accommodate ceremonies in our ground floor dining room up to 45 guests and we can now hold ceremonies on our lawns for up to 110 guests. If you wished to get married here you need to apply for your licence through the Civil Registration Office in Dundalk with a minimum of 3 months notice. The contact number for the Dundalk office is +353 (0)42 938 5447
There are now many wonderful and romantic ways to have a ‘non church’ wedding including a Civil ceremony or a more flexible “alternative” ceremony. There are solemnisers and celebrants who can officiate your ceremony on any day, at anytime. These people work in conjunction with the HSE and produce the same paperwork as them. They are able to carry out a fully legal indoor ceremony in Ghan House, the Heritage Centre behind us or an outdoor ceremony in the Ghan House private, walled gardens.
Just behind Ghan House is the Heritage Centre which accommodates ceremonies. Many couples use this beautiful building and guests walk from Ghan House to the Heritage Centre
Ghan House is also now becoming increasingly popular for Civil Ceremony and a relaxed informal dinner for very close family. The smallest we have had is 5 for Civil Ceremony & private dining! For intimacy, privacy and homeliness.
